Authorities have made countless inspections to Petaquilla without finding irregularities

Amid all the media controversy regarding the Petaquilla mining project, this project has undergone many inspections by both the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MICI) and ANAM, in addition to independent laboratories, such as ITS’s.

“In all previous inspections no irregularities have been found, but rather a high set of standards has been established in all aspects, issuing favorable findings,” said a company statement from Petaquilla Gold, S. A.

The company has always reiterated its willingness to comply with all environmental standards, both domestic and international.

The mining company has reiterated its firm commitment to continue complying with the requirements and regulations governing mining activities, always under the concept of reasonable use, avoiding the most adverse impacts to the environment.

A recycling and solid waste disposal program has been made ??in Molejón and its camps, in addition to an area near the Molejón checkpoint.

Petaquilla Gold stressed the importance of reusing these materials during construction and has explained that when the “junkyard that we are improperly accumulating” is mentioned it is an inappropriate term, since these materials, basically iron and steel, are reused and will be properly disposed of once construction is completed.

“We consider it viable to give it sustainable use and dispose solid waste that generates an adverse impact on the environment,” the statement said.

The company also maintains a permanent monitoring system on the use of chemical substances. “We also have the license issued by the Ministry of Public UCQ for managing all of these substances, which regularly inspects us and has not established adverse findings or irregularities,” it said.

Petaquilla Gold, S. A. has explained to ANAM staff the recycling and solid waste disposal program, management held in Molejón and its camps and scrap recycling which is done in the area near the Molejón checkpoint.

Materials are reused during construction and such materials, basically iron and steel, are reused and will be disposed of properly once construction is completed.

The company considers it viable to make use sustainable rather than disposing solid waste which does create an adverse impact on the environment.
